The amazing Whitby Abbey ruins is visible from anywhere in Whitby and appears in the recent hit TV show Dracula

Roam the ruins of the Abbey church and immerse yourself in 13th-century Gothic splendor. The headland was first settled as a monastery in AD657 and became one of the most important religious centers in the Anglo-Saxon world. Part of the abbey church has collapsed throughout the centuries due to weather and war, and its west front was hit by German navel shelling in 1914. The haunting remains of Whitby Abbey were also the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Gothic tale of 'Dracula'.
